Many people don’t realize that Ecotrailbuilders “constructed” 25% of Ontario’s donation to the Trans Canada Trail – the national trail that spans the country, from sea to sea to sea.
Eight years ago, we were approached by the TCT to map out the quintessential Canadian canoe route as part of the national trail – an acknowledgement of the importance of Canada’s first trails, the canoe routes (‘onigum’) used for millennia by the First Nations. It would be a 1,250 km route that would take us months of intensive field research and studio time to produce a guidebook for the public.
Firefly Books produced the guidebook – my fifth canoe guidebook – a proud complement to my other canoe guidebooks as an environmental tool (available at: hapwilson.com).
